Archibald Family Reuinion



The past two weeks have been very busy.  After the crazy week of mishaps, we got to go to court and finalize Esther's adoption.  Isaac also got a "certificate of brotherhood" signed by the judge that stated, "This is to certify that on this 2nd day of July, 2014 ISAAC REID ARCHIBALD officially became the brother of ESTHER LYNNE ARCHIBALD.  It is hereby acknowledged and ordered that Isaac will always and forever be a brother to Esther and will always love her."   It was a good day.  


The day after the adoption, we drove 10 1/2 hours (including stoppage time) to Minnesota to the Archibald family reunion.  The pictures below are from that reunion.


The two pictures above are Esther and Isaac as we waited for fireworks to start on the 4th of July.  We had to wait a long time and entertain ourselves.

This is a picture of our family after Esther was given a name and a blessing in church.  The white dress was provided by Grandma Archibald.


These two pictures are of Isaac clinging for dear life to Mom and Dad as we took him on some rides at the Mall of America.  Eventually he warmed up to the rides, but he was pretty terrified at first.  

We tie-dyed shirts at the reunion and wore them to a baseball game.  Our team ended up winning 4 to 3 in the 11th inning.



We got to enjoy a free sculpture garden in Minneapolis on the last day of our trip.  This is us checking out some of the exhibits.

Not your typical Christmas Day

Christmas tree at Calvary Chapel.  Our neighbors always invite us to go to a special Christmas Eve Service. Christmas 2016 was unique in 2 ways:  1, it was on a Sunday, and 2, the kids didn't open presents until after 3:30 PM.  The day started off with the kids getting excited about the fact that their sugar loaded breakfast was in their stockings.  They got juice in character shaped bottles; Isaac got Darth Vader and Esther got Miss Piggy.  Then they got individual serving of lucky charms.  Unsurprisingly, they ate the marshmallows and left the rest.  They also got the standard canister of Pringles and gummy bears.   After that, we had to rush to get ready for church. No time for presents.  After church, we came home and had just enough time to make and eat a delicious brunch, which included our favorite raspberry cream cheese muffins.  Then we got in the car to go to the hospital to sing Christmas carols to the sick.  Again, no time for presents.  We finally made it home j

Brevard Phoenix Cup

 Isaac participated in the Brevard Phoenix Cup this weekend.  He only plays on Saturdays so we can attend church on the Sabbath and keep the Sabbath Day the Lord's Day.  Isaac has always been very responsive to this--never complaining that he doesn't get to play on Sunday.  His team has gone on to win a couple of tournaments with him helping them on Saturday and not going on Sunday.  I hope they continue to be understanding of our religious views.   Reid took a video of the one of the games they played on Saturday.  Isaac makes a sweet goal at 61:47 on the video, if you are ever interested.  He is player 10 in blue.  This was their second game on Saturday, Jan. 20th, 2024.  I was hoping against hope that someone from our team would score against this team--because our boys were playing up against the 13 year olds, and our team is all 12 year olds and under.  I was super excited when our boys scored, and even more excited that it happened to be my boy that got the goal.  Of cour

L3Harris Rocket Launch

 Our family was invited to the Kennedy Space Center to watch a rocket launch because Reid's company worked on the payload for this rocket.  It was really cool, and a little bit chilly.  We did finally hear the sonic boom, but I was super surprised how delayed the sound was from the visual.  The whole ordeal of sending a satellite to outer space was like 15 minutes.  It's crazy how fast we can put a satellite into orbit these days.
