Georgia Vacation

Image
Last week we got to go to a cabin.  On our way there, we got to stop at the Martin Luther King Jr. National park.  We visited the house he grew up in, and the Ebenezer church where he preached.  I thought it was amazing, but the kids were more than a little disinterested.  I guess we have a long way to go to teach civil rights and black history.   We spent the rest of the week hiking waterfalls, gem mining, tubing, and just playing in the great outdoors.  It was very beautiful there, and despite a few bug bites and having Isaac fall out of his tube for a few seconds, there were no real hiccups.   This was last Monday's excursion: Martin Luther King Jr. childhood home. Esther's first tubing adventure. Isaac and Dad, before Isaac fell out and Dad rescued him. Isaac and Esther gem mining.  Despite his facial expression in this photo, Isaac assures me he loves ice cream.  This was a tree chair we found before walking on a swinging bridge.

Isaac's 7th Birthday

Image
Isaac turned 7 on Sunday.  We were babysitting our friends' kids that day, so Isaac had built in friends.  On Sunday morning, Isaac opened presents and enjoyed his preferred breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon.  After church, we made a gourmet feast of chicken nuggets and waffle fries, because we couldn't actually go to Chick-fil-A on a Sunday.  That was also Isaac's choice of dinner.  We had the neighbor kids, our friends' kids, and a friend from school all over to wish Isaac happy birthday.  This was fairly low key compared to the previous birthday parties, but we promised Isaac we could go to LegoLand on Friday, which is today.  Unfortunately, his sister is sick today and we are stuck at home until further notice.  Hopefully we will be able to finish off the birthday celebrations at LegoLand soon.  But even without the LegoLand adventure, Isaac seems to have loved his 7th birthday.  We love you, Isaac!
