Happy belated Mother's Day from the Archibald children! Here are their cute mugs down below!
Isaac was wondering this year if he had any biological brothers or sisters. He has been playing competitive soccer all year. The year just ended with his team finally breaking their losing streak and winning their last few games! We just discovered he has ADHD, and we are working toward getting him the help he needs to concentrate in school. His grades did dip a bit this year, but he has been fixing his mistakes on worksheets at home after school and turning them back in for a better grade, and he made the A honor roll! Isaac still loves to make people laugh, and he loves to play with friends. One day Isaac came home from school with a water bottle with his name printed on the side. He told me his friend's mom makes them and he had one made for Isaac. People seem to just gravitate to him. At home, he instigates lots of mischief and is working on playing nicely with his brother and sister. We love him!
Esther Lynne is our imaginative play queen. Any little toy or box, or even tile samples becomes fodder for her imaginative play world. A couple of Saturdays ago, we cleaned her room out together and threw out a myriad of paper creations and what I thought was junk that had collected itself in her toy bin. A few days later, she told me on the way home from school that she had to "delete" some games from her mind because I had thrown some of the pieces away. I smiled to myself and kindly suggested that maybe she could just modify the game instead of delete it. She pondered that for a moment and I could already see the possibilities multiplying in her mind's eye. She loves ponies, kitties, and any other little critter she can play with. She played soccer this season and actually spent most of the time playing soccer instead of crawling on the field like a cat the way she did last time we signed her up. I guess a couple of years of maturity will do that! She hates it when I do her hair, and sometimes has difficulty sharing. But other times she is so sweet to Jaydon and Isaac that it's touching. She also has ADHD and ODD, and we are also doing our best to help her out in school. She is a top notch reader and is good at math, she just doesn't always like to follow directions to get her work done.
Jaydon joined our family recently and we are thrilled! He has been a very important part for over a year now, but it's now official with a name change and everything. He loves vehicles of all kinds, and is also starting to read BOB books. He is very smart, but does have trouble focussing on his reading. I often catch him glancing at a word, then looking anywhere but the book and guessing what the word might be. He is a very energetic little guy and is usually the first person up. He also played soccer again this year, and scored his first goal at one of his games. Considering that he has flat feet and is still in Physical therapy, this tickled me pink. He rounds our number of ADHD children up to 3. (Nobody stays at the table for very long at dinner time at our house! haha!) He is also the most friendly autistic kid you'll ever meet. He loves playing with friends as well, and biking with his dad. He has done pretty well in school, and we are currently debating public school vs. private for him, but he wants to be at the same school as his sister.
We love these little stinkers! It's always a double edged sword that they all want to still sit by me at the dinner table and kneel right next to me while we have family prayer. I can't always tell if it's just an unspoken sibling rivalry or if they actually just want to be near me. Either way, it's both suffocating and endearing. I'm so grateful these children came into my life!
