Spring Break 2023

 Here's a few gems from spring break this year.

1.  Isaac has a crazy high jump.  Still can't believe he can do this.  


2.  Esther is now featuring the ultimate in natural jewelry: real live lizards biting onto her ears and hanging on for dear life.  I almost want my own pair...just not actually alive.

3.  My sister came down for spring break this year and took her two oldest, Erin and Lainey, and all 3 of my kids to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios.  Reid and I stayed behind with her 2 youngest kids, Dawn and Owen.

The kids also got to eat lunch in the Leaky Cauldron, and they each bought a Harry Potter themed toy. Isaac bought the Exploding Snaps card game and a golden snitch, Esther is now the proud owner of a stuffed dragon that is a replica of the one on the top of the Gringott's bank, and Jaydon has made fast friends with Hermione's cat, Crookshanks. 

 It was a week full of eating, watching way too much Harry Potter, wearing green, swimming, pig catching,  and hanging with the cousins.  They left this morning and we miss them already!

Not your typical Christmas Day

Christmas tree at Calvary Chapel.  Our neighbors always invite us to go to a special Christmas Eve Service. Christmas 2016 was unique in 2 ways:  1, it was on a Sunday, and 2, the kids didn't open presents until after 3:30 PM.  The day started off with the kids getting excited about the fact that their sugar loaded breakfast was in their stockings.  They got juice in character shaped bottles; Isaac got Darth Vader and Esther got Miss Piggy.  Then they got individual serving of lucky charms.  Unsurprisingly, they ate the marshmallows and left the rest.  They also got the standard canister of Pringles and gummy bears.   After that, we had to rush to get ready for church. No time for presents.  After church, we came home and had just enough time to make and eat a delicious brunch, which included our favorite raspberry cream cheese muffins.  Then we got in the car to go to the hospital to sing Christmas carols to the sick.  Again...

Brevard Phoenix Cup

 Isaac participated in the Brevard Phoenix Cup this weekend.  He only plays on Saturdays so we can attend church on the Sabbath and keep the Sabbath Day the Lord's Day.  Isaac has always been very responsive to this--never complaining that he doesn't get to play on Sunday.  His team has gone on to win a couple of tournaments with him helping them on Saturday and not going on Sunday.  I hope they continue to be understanding of our religious views.   Reid took a video of the one of the games they played on Saturday.  Isaac makes a sweet goal at 61:47 on the video, if you are ever interested.  He is player 10 in blue.  This was their second game on Saturday, Jan. 20th, 2024.  I was hoping against hope that someone from our team would score against this team--because our boys were playing up against the 13 year olds, and our team is all 12 year olds and under.  I was super excited when our boys scored, and even more excited that it hap...

dimpled smile

Grandma and Grandpa Carroll came this past week to help us out with the new baby.  Grandma was able to catch the cutest dimpled smile I've ever seen!  I think it a small miracle that Isaac smiled just in time for Grandma to snap that picture. Isaac came to us from Southeastern Michigan.  We learned about him at the beginning of May.  We were not expecting him until the 10th, but he surprised us by coming early.  Reid and I had all of our camping gear packed the Friday before Isaac arrived--ready to go on one last camping adventure before we were blessed with children.  Then we got the call.  We dropped everything and drove to the hospital.  After a few days of waiting, we were able to bring him home from the hospital.   Now Isaac has just had his 2 week well child visit with his pediatrician.  He has grown almost a whole pound and grew over one inch in his two weeks of life.  He is a joy and we feel continually blessed to ha...
