This summer our little family decided to do a vacation, with just the 5 of us, to Asheville, NC. We spent 5 days there. Each one of us took a day to plan what we wanted to do on that day.
Monday was Esther's day. She wanted to see nature and catch salamanders. We went on a hike.
Tuesday was Jaydon's day. He chose to see waterfalls. There are tons of waterfalls nearby to see. There is even one you can slide down. The water was frigid, though. Luckily, there was a hot tub to get into afterwards.
Wednesday was Mom's day. We went to visit the historic grounds and mansion of Biltmore. I took way too many pictures to post. I'll just show you the one we paid for. Sadly, it's not better than the ones we took...
Okay, okay. You convinced me. I'll show you some others.

This is the renaissance experience at Biltmore. This is the famous painting "The Birth of Venus." We stood where Venus was supposed to be. |
Thursday was Dad's day. That means one thing: biking.
Friday was Isaac's 11th birthday. This is the first time he has celebrated with family only. He struggled with that at first, but then made it a good day. We went to a retro pinball arcade. There were old video games and tons of pinball machines. Isaac's cake was a bit of a flop, because the oven at our rental wouldn't work, so we bought him a Boston cream cake in down town Hendersonville. It was a super cute city.

Isaac's birthday cinnamon roll breakfast. |
|
Hendersonville had painted bear statues everywhere. |
|
One of the consignment shops had these giant beach hats that we just couldn't resist trying on. |
|
Another statue right up Esther's alley. |
|
Jurassic Park pinball |

Old fashioned fair games. I would just like to put out there that Isaac's mom, NOT his dad taught him how to aim and shoot so he could score on that game. |

This little arcade was super cool. |

Boston Creme Birthday cake. A delicious end to a fabulous day. |
I absolutely LOVED this family vacation. I watched the kids bond and play with each other when I usually see them fighting. We all got to contribute to the planning--and the execution was so fun.
