Jaydon's 8th Birthday

 Jaydon's birthday was at DEFY trampoline park on Saturday.  He turned 8 and will be getting baptized soon.  Because I am working, Reid and I did our best to throw together a party.  We were a little bit last minute and got out the invitations super late.  I paid for 10 kids to come to the party.  Only 6 showed up.  That left room for Isaac and Esther, and Jaydon's birth brothers.  Unfortunately, I didn't get the message to Jaydon's birth mom soon enough that there was room for his brothers and they didn't show up.  Isaac and Esther also didn't show up, because they decided to spray paint our driveway while Reid was in the shower.  I had already left with Jaydon and the party supplies so we could be there on time to welcome guests.  The rest of the family wasn't ready yet.  When Reid got out of the shower to find that Esther and Isaac had spray painted the driveway for no apparent reason other than they thought it would be fun to spray paint something, he was pretty upset.  He made them clean the driveway before they came to the party and they didn't get to jump at all.  They barely made it in time for cake and presents.

Jaydon's birthday cake was oreo vanilla sprinkle cake with strawberries in the middle.  It was pretty dang tasty.  Nice choice Jaydon.

Not your typical Christmas Day

Christmas tree at Calvary Chapel.  Our neighbors always invite us to go to a special Christmas Eve Service. Christmas 2016 was unique in 2 ways:  1, it was on a Sunday, and 2, the kids didn't open presents until after 3:30 PM.  The day started off with the kids getting excited about the fact that their sugar loaded breakfast was in their stockings.  They got juice in character shaped bottles; Isaac got Darth Vader and Esther got Miss Piggy.  Then they got individual serving of lucky charms.  Unsurprisingly, they ate the marshmallows and left the rest.  They also got the standard canister of Pringles and gummy bears.   After that, we had to rush to get ready for church. No time for presents.  After church, we came home and had just enough time to make and eat a delicious brunch, which included our favorite raspberry cream cheese muffins.  Then we got in the car to go to the hospital to sing Christmas carols to the sick.  Again, no time for presents.  We finally made it home j

Brevard Phoenix Cup

 Isaac participated in the Brevard Phoenix Cup this weekend.  He only plays on Saturdays so we can attend church on the Sabbath and keep the Sabbath Day the Lord's Day.  Isaac has always been very responsive to this--never complaining that he doesn't get to play on Sunday.  His team has gone on to win a couple of tournaments with him helping them on Saturday and not going on Sunday.  I hope they continue to be understanding of our religious views.   Reid took a video of the one of the games they played on Saturday.  Isaac makes a sweet goal at 61:47 on the video, if you are ever interested.  He is player 10 in blue.  This was their second game on Saturday, Jan. 20th, 2024.  I was hoping against hope that someone from our team would score against this team--because our boys were playing up against the 13 year olds, and our team is all 12 year olds and under.  I was super excited when our boys scored, and even more excited that it happened to be my boy that got the goal.  Of cour

L3Harris Rocket Launch

 Our family was invited to the Kennedy Space Center to watch a rocket launch because Reid's company worked on the payload for this rocket.  It was really cool, and a little bit chilly.  We did finally hear the sonic boom, but I was super surprised how delayed the sound was from the visual.  The whole ordeal of sending a satellite to outer space was like 15 minutes.  It's crazy how fast we can put a satellite into orbit these days.
